I don't understand when people complain about baselayers not looking good on their overweight bodies. Overweight or not, who cares how the baselayer looks? It is a baselayer. It's purpose of keeping warm is best served with a snug fit.
This Icebreaker Bodyfit 200 Top is a little itchier than most merino wools I've worn, but it is comfortable enough that I still enjoy wearing it and generally do not mind the slightly less soft that typical merino wool. I haven't yet put this shirt to the full test as a baselayer on the ski slopes, but I have been out in the cold and snow with it as a base and it was comfortable. I expect this shirt will work very nicely for me. I will mostly use it as a baselayer for hikes, mountaineering, snowshoeing and outdoor cold runs. I am 6 ft and 175 lbs and the Medium fits me well. My girlfriend got the women's version of this same shirt and found that it made her eyes itch a little. Although, some wool clothing makes her eyes itch. So, this should not be a concern for you unless you have historically had allergy problems with some wools. So, the fact that it caused allergy problems when some merino wools do not cause allergy problems, and the fact that it is not quite as soft as most merino wools are the only two reasons I ding this review down to a 3-star.
UPDATE: I am changing this review to a 1-star. I just got back from climbing Mt Rainier while wearing this shirt. When sweating during the climb, the merino wool became very itchy. It is definitely a lower quality merino. In addition to my girlfriend having allergy problems with the merino, I also had mildly itchy eyes from the sub-par merino. I will not be wearing this baselayer again. Very itchy, hyperallergenic, low-quality wool.
